8Q     - Juergen, OE4JHW  will  be  active  as  8Q7OE  from  Kuredu  Island,
         Maldives (AS-013) on 2-14 September. He will operate holiday  style
         on 40-10 meters SSB and BPSK (during  his  night  hours).  QSL  via
         home call, direct or bureau, LoTW and eQSL.
E5_nc  - Andy, E51AND (AB7FS) will be on Palmerston  Atoll  (OC-124),  North
         Cook Islands until "sometime in the middle of next September",  The
         Daily DX reports. Andy operates straight key QRS  CW  around  14048
         kHz, and often checks into the ANZA net which  meets  at  at  05:15
         UTC daily at 14183 kHz. QSL via AB7FS.
F      - The Radio Club du Bassin d'Arcachon (F5KAY) will be active as  TM5O
         from Ile aux Oiseaux (not IOTA, DIFM AT-028) on 1-2 September.  Two
         stations will be QRV on 80, 40 and 20 metres SSB,  CW  and  digital
         modes. QSL via F8IHE, direct or bureau.
F      - Ben, ON5GQ, will be active holiday style  as  F/ON5GQ  from  Oleron
         Island (EU-032) on 1-14 September. QSL via  home  call,  direct  or

G      - Russell, G5XW will be active as  G5XW/p  from  the  Isle  of  Wight
         (EU-120) on 26-27 August. QSL via  home  call,  direct  only.  [TNX

I      - Fabio, IK0IXI will  be  active  as  II0FIST  on  2-8  September  to
         celebrate  the  25th  anniversary  of  the  FISTS  CW  Club,    the
         International Morse  Preservation  Society  (www.fists.co.uk).  QSL
         via IK0IXI.
KH0    - Look for JQ2WTT as KH0XW (QSL direct to home call)  and  JE1XUZ  as
         KH0XH (QSL direct to home call) to be active from  Saipan  (OC-086)
         from 29 August to 3 September. They will  participate  in  the  All
         Asian DX SSB Contest (1-2 September) as  AH0BT  (QSL  via  7L1FPU).

PJ2    - Anja, DH2AK and Torsten, DL1THM will be active again  as  PJ2/DH2AK
         and  PJ2/DL1THM  from  Curacao  (SA-099)  from  26  August  to    1
         September. They will operate holiday style mainly SSB on 20 and  15

SU     - Special callsign SU30ASR will  be  in  use  from  24  August  to  2
         September to celebrate the 30th  Arab  Scout  Camp  in  Abu  Quear,
         Alexandria. Said SU1SK, Atef SU1AO and Ayman SU1AR plan to  operate
         SSB, CW and digital modes on 160-10 metres. QSL via SM5AQD  (direct

SV9    - Luc, ON6DSL will be active  as  SV9/ON6DSL/p  from  Crete  (EU-015)
         from 27 August to 3 September. He will  operate  SSB  only  with  5

TA     - The TC Special Wireless  Activity  Team  (www.tcswat.org)  and  the
         Giresun Radio Amateurs and Nature Sports Club  will  be  active  as
         TC6ILH from Inebolu Lighthouse on  30  August-2  September  and  as
         TC2AL from Amasra Lighthouse on 1-2 September. QSL via TA1HZ.
UA     - Gennady R3BY, Maxim RU5D and Oleg R7LP  will  be  active  as  RI0FM
         from Moneron Island (AS-149) from 28 August to  2  September.  They
         will operate CW and SSB on 40-10 metres. QSL via R3BY,  direct  and
         bureau. On 30-31 August they plan to be QRV as R10RLHA/0  (QSL  via

V6     - Yoshi, JJ8DEN will be active as V63PR from Falalop Island  (OC-078)
         from 24 August to 3 September (the  trip  depends  on  the  flights
         to/from the island, and  the  schedule  might  change  or  even  be
         cancelled). He plans to  operate  RTTY,  CW,  PSK31  and  JT65A  on
         160-10 metres. QSL via JJ8DEN, direct or bureau.
W      - Once again Joe, K5KUA will be  active  as  K5KUA/5  from  Galveston
         Island (NA-143) from 31 August to 3 September. While on the  island
         he usually operates CW on 40-10 metres. QSL via home  call,  direct

ZD9    - ZS1A reports that Gerard de Jong, ZS6KX will  be  on  Gough  Island
         (AF-030) "from sometime September 2012"  and  will  apply  for  the
         ZD9KX callsign. His QSL route will  be  announced  in  due  course.

CAMPBELL ISLAND 2012 ---> "We are on schedule and the  project  planning  is
well underway", the ZL9HR team wrote on  21  August.  "The  team  is  busily
working on all aspects of the DXpedition", which will  take  place  from  28
November to 9 December. Read the  latest  news,  including  ZL9HR's  QSLling

SWAINS ISLAND 2012 ---> The NH8S DXpedition cargo has  arrived  in  American
Samoa. The international team of 20 operators  (9V1FJ/ZS1FJ,  AA4NN,  DJ2VO,
DL3DXX, K5AB, K9CS, K9CT, K9NW, N2TU, N4HH, N6HC, N6HD, NA6M, ND2T,  SM5AQD,
W6KK, W8GEX, W8HC, W8TN and WB9Z) is scheduled to depart American  Samoa  on
4 September, for the 23 hour boat ride  to  Swains.  They  will  be  running
seven stations from 6 to 160m, including 60m. They will be on  CW,  SSB  and
RTTY around the clock for  14  days.  Great  emphasis  will  be  in  working
European stations. Plans are to update logs on a daily  basis  by  satellite
phone. The team will have  two  pilot  stations  (Valerie,  NV9L  for  North
America and Col, MM0NDX  for  Europe).  Total  costs  are  estimated  to  be
$200,000. Each member has paid $8000, plus  his  cost  to  get  to  American
Samoa. Anyone who wants to contribute defray the cost of the  trip,  can  go

+ SILENT KEYS + Victor D. Poor (W5SMM) passed away on 17 August at  the  age
of  79.  Last  month  he  received  the  ARRL  President's   Award  for  his
contributions to the development of digital communications systems  (Winlink
2000 and its predecessor Aplink) in the Amateur Radio Service. He  was  also
one of the major forces behind the development of the modern microprocessor.
Other recently reported Silent Keys include Araldo Ramundo  (I8RAR),  Enrico
Lombardo (IT9TDJ), Marilyn S. Carpenter  (N8OAM),  Thomas  L.  Hise  (NC0O),
Helio M. de Carvalho (PY2BBO), Finlay Bruce (ZL4HI), Ham Radio Outlet  (HRO)
Vice President  George  Varvitsiotes  (K6SV)  and  QST  Magazine's  Managing
Editor Joel P. Kleinman (N1BKE), who died from injuries  received  during  a
house fire.
